Led by Cuban pianist Laura Argudín, the acclaimed Rotterdam Latin jazz sextet bridges Cuban heritage, West African rhythms, and personal transformation on their debut full-length project, releasing September 25, 2026.
Rotterdam - August 7, 2026-- Following dynamic international tours across South America and Europe, Rotterdam-based Latin jazz sextet Beatriz announces their milestone debut full-length album, Perseverancia, releasing September 25, 2026. To celebrate the project's launch, the band will perform an official album release show on the evening of September 25 at the iconic Bimhuis in Amsterdam.

Perseverancia (album cover)
Composed and produced by Cuban pianist Laura Argudín, Perseverancia represents a monumental step forward for the ensemble following their initial EP. Releasing for the first time on physical CD and vinyl as well as digital platforms, the album showcases a refined synthesis of traditional Cuban son, West African percussion, and fiery jazz improvisation. The music honors Cuban heritage while expanding into new cultural territories, notably featuring guest artist Fanti Araby O’Bryan on Malinke percussion.
The recording captures the visceral energy of a live performance, as all musicians tracked simultaneously in one room to preserve an organic, honest sound. Key tracks include “Esquemas,” which pivots seamlessly from a catchy melody into a playful cha-cha-cha groove, and “Tempo,” an energetic piece defined by its tight, driving rhythm.
The album reflects a period of profound personal and artistic growth for Argudín, who embraced motherhood during its creation while building an extended musical family within her band.
“Becoming a mother during this journey gave me a completely new perspective on life, time, and music,” reflects Laura Argudín. “Balancing motherhood with touring brought distinct challenges, but it filled our compositions with deeper gratitude, patience, and emotional resonance.”
“Beatriz is truly a family,” Argudín adds. “Recording live together in one room captured the raw, organic warmth of our connection. My vision for Perseverancia was to create an honest sound that honors our shared journey—from international festival stages like Barranquilla Jazz in Colombia to this landmark new chapter.”
